What is an AI agent?

How is an agent different from a workflow?

A workflow runs deterministic steps where the same input produces the same output. An agent reasons across variable input and decides what action to take from a bounded set of options. Most useful systems combine both — a workflow with bounded agents inside it for the parts that require judgement.

How do you scope an AI agent?

By naming the input shape, the output shape, the actions inside its authority, the escalation conditions, and the human review surface.
